Good afternoon Ventura Park families!

We want to thank you all for a great first day. It was wonderful to have so many of our students back in the building, and to have our virtual students connect with their classes this afternoon.

We understand that there were issues with late busses this morning, and that the phone lines at both the bus company and the school were occupied. We appreciate your patience as we continue to get bussing ironed out. Please check the School Bus City webpage for any information about bus stops, and monitor the website for late bus reports as well. If you have moved or your pickup arrangements have changed, please let the office know.

As a quick reminder, all elementary families must now complete a Covid-19 screening for each child every morning. The screening form can be accessed here, and requires a student’s GAPPS username and password to log on. For families new to the YRDSB who do not yet have their child’s GAPPS account information, please reach out to your child’s teacher for more information.

We’re looking forward to another great day of learning tomorrow!

Afternoon – Late busses

Dear families,

Please be advised that many of our busses were very delayed in arriving at Ventura Park this afternoon and will therefore be arriving at their stops late.

The office staff will be remaining at the office until we have notification that the last student has been dropped off safely.

A Message to our VPPS Community

To our Ventura Families

As we head into the summer we would like to thank all of you for your help and support during these unusual times.  The pandemic has shown us that we can overcome many obstacles that come our way.  In spite of the unknowns we were still able to accomplish many things:

  1. Spirit and wellness initiatives for both Students and Parents.
  2. A school wide library initiative that included a physical refresh and an inclusive art project.
  3. Continued work with Indigenous artist Deron Douglas, Outstanding Performances from Roseneath Theatre and a dynamic student council.

Congratulations to our Grade 8 graduates.

Wishing all our students, staff, families and community members a safe summer.  Enjoy the time off, you’ve earned it !!!!

Grade 1-8 Material Retrieval and Chrome Book Return – Reminder

Dear Families,

There will be no appointments to book on Edsby to pick up or drop of Technology.

Pick a 15 minute time slot from the list below based on your last name and come to school on that day.

The following are the dates and times for the material retrieval and drop off:

Friday June 25, 2021:

• Students with surnames – A – L     8:30 am – 12:20 pm

• Students with surnames – M – Z   1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Monday June 28, 2021:

• Students with surnames – M – Z    8:30 am – 12:20 pm

• Students with surnames – A – L    1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Tuesday June 29, 2021:

• Students with surnames – A – L   10:30 am – 11:30 pm

• Students with surnames – M – Z  11:30 pm – 12:30 pm

Families with multiple children attending the same school, can visit multiple homeroom classes.

Please remember to wear a mask and practice social distancing by staying two meters apart from anyone not in your household. There may be a need to line up depending on the flow.

We will be following Public Health recommendations and we ask families to come to the front door to enter the building. 

Safety protocols will be in place as you enter school building, and will include: 

  • practice social distancing by staying two meters apart from anyone not from your household; 
  • wear a mask
  • bring technology

use hand sanitizer as you enter and exit the building (Any one wearing gloves upon arrival will be asked to remove and discard them.

  • Musical instruments that belong to the school
  • Textbooks
