YRDSB Supported Entry

Hello VPPS families,

Yesterday, the YRDSB announced plans for a supported entry to the 2020-2021 school year. This staggered return to school during the first two weeks will give our staff additional time to prepare the school for your child’s return and give students time to learn and practice new health and safety measures in smaller groups. Welcoming students back in smaller groups will also enable us to better help students transition back to school and to new school routines.

Students will start school on Thursday, September 10 or Friday, September 11, 2020. Students will be divided into two groups by last name alphabetically and go to school on alternate days for the first four days (i.e. your child will attend school on September 10 and 14 or September 11 and 15). All students in Grades 1-8 will begin attending school every day on Wednesday, September 16.

You will receive information about which days your child will attend school during the supported entry process by September 2, 2020. Please visit the following link for more details about the supported entry plan, including information about virtual learning for those families who have chosen that option: http://www.yrdsb.ca/schools/school-reopening/Pages/default.aspx#August%2026,%202020%20-%20Elementary%20Supported%20Entry

Back to School Information

Hello VPPS families,

As the beginning of the school year approaches, we ask that you please take a moment to look at the YRDSB’s Fall 2020 – Return To School Plan if you have not already done so: http://www.yrdsb.ca/schools/school-reopening/Documents/YRDSB-Return-to-School-Plan.pdf   Please take some time to discuss the information with your children as appropriate. This will help them get a better idea of what to expect come September, such as the fact that all school staff will be wearing masks, that they will see signs on the floor helping to manage the flow of students through the halls, and that regular hand washing will be integrated into their daily schedule.

Please continue to monitor the blog for updates. We appreciate that you have many questions about what back to school will look like, particularly about routines for the first day of school. As soon as we have more information to share, we will be sure to update the blog. For any families who will be using bussing services, visit http://net.schoolbuscity.com/ after August 24th and use the “Find Your Bus Stop” button located at the top left of the screen to find information regarding bus stops and times.

Thank you,

Greg Farrell & Melanie Chamberland

Looking Forward to the New School Year!

Hello VPPS Families,

We hope everyone has been staying safe and enjoying the sunshine and heat this summer.
We encourage parents to continue to look at the VPPS blog and to check the YRDSB website for communication and updates as the new school year approaches.
We are excited to welcome your child(ren) back to school.  We have missed them and we know they are eager to return too, whether that be online or in class.  The safety of our students will continue to be at the top of our priorities and we are looking forward to starting this new school year!

Thank you,
