Air Quality Update (June 9th)

Dear Families,

Earlier today, we received notification that Environment Canada and the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks has terminated the Special Air Quality Statement.

This is very good news and means that schools may resume regular operations and activities.

We appreciate your patience and understanding this week and for the next few days, as it may take schools some time to communicate with families and students regarding events and activities that were canceled due to the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI).

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Intermediate Track and Field Update

Intermediate Track and Field Meet will now take place on Friday, June 16 (event times and location stay the same). Students need to arrive at Hodan Nalayeh SS at 9:00 am!

The Regional Track and Field meet will be taking place on Monday, June 19 at the Stouffville Arena. More information will follow.

Air Quality Update

Dear families,

As was communicated to you yesterday, Environment Canada has issued an Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) statement for the Greater Toronto Area advising that high levels of air pollution are possible due to smoke from forest fires in Quebec and northeastern Ontario.

The current forecast indicates that the situation with the Air Quality Health Index is likely to continue or worsen in the coming days.

As a result, we will be continuing with indoor recess tomorrow (June 9, 2023) and unfortunately, our FIELD TRIP/EVENT will need to be postponed/canceled.

As always, we will continue to follow the advice of Environment Canada and York Region Public Health. As the situation evolves, we will continue to provide families with information.

Tentative Organization (2023-2024)

We are currently beginning preparations for the upcoming school year!  At this time, we would like to share with you our “tentative” school organization with 23 homeroom classes.

GR1F-1GR45F-1
GR1F-2GR5F-1
GR1F-3GR5F-2
GR2F-1GR56F-1
GR2F-2GR6F-1
GR2F-3GR6F-2
GR23F-1GR7F-1
GR3F-1GR7F-2
GR3F-2GR78F-1
GR3F-3GR8F-1
GR4F-1GR8F-2
GR4F-2

*Please note: class codes have changed from alphabetic to numeric. For example, Gr.1FA will now be GR1F-1, and combined classes will be identified without the “/” (e.g, Gr.2/3FA will now be GR23F-1).

At this time, we will not be sharing the names of homeroom teachers, as changes do occur over the summer, and prior to the start of school.

Please also keep in mind that this organization is based on our current registration and staffing, which can also change in the coming months and into the first month of school.

We do not accept teacher or friend requests. We are all friends at Ventura Park Public School. As always and together with the input of our team, we strive to make the best decisions possible for our students so that they will have a happy and successful school year, and reach their highest academic potential, while celebrating their mental health and well being.

Thank you for your partnership.
