Every Student Counts Survey – Deadline Approaching

Student voice is important to us here at VPPS. From November 12 to 30, 2018, the York Region District School Board will invite all students to participate in the Every Student Counts Survey (ESCS).
The purpose of this census survey is to better understand YRDSB’s diverse student population as well as students’ experiences in school and outside of school. The survey results will be used to help improve our schools and to:
-
Identify and eliminate systemic barriers to student success;
-
Create more equitable and inclusive school environments; and,
-
Improve student achievement and well-being.
All students will be given the opportunity to participate.
-
For students in Grade 1 to Grade 6, the survey will be sent home to be completed with a parent/guardian
-
Students in Grades 7 and 8 will be invited to complete the census at school.
The Every Student Counts Survey (ESCS) is confidential but not anonymous. To ensure confidentiality, no directly identifying information (such as student name) will be on the survey. As one of the main purposes of the survey is to identify and eliminate systemic barriers to student success, all surveys will include a unique code that will be used to link the survey data with student achievement data. Survey results will only be reported in aggregate form (grouped data only) and no individual students will be identified. A summary of the results will be available at schools and on the board web page in Spring 2019.

Important Details Regarding Getting Your Tickets for the Toronto Marlies Game on Sunday November 18, 2018
This post is specifically for parents and students who are planning on attending the Toronto Marlies game on SUNDAY NOVEMBER 18, 2018 at the Scotiabank Arena at 40 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario.
There are a few logistics for your attention:
- The tickets will be distributed to students on Friday. Envelopes will contain the total number of tickets ordered via School Cash Online.
- In order to skate on the Scotiabank Arena Ice, all skaters MUST complete the waiver. 1 waiver per ticket will be shared. If you don’t bring the waiver with you on Sunday, you will need to fill one out on Sunday which may have you in line for a long time.
- All spectators are the responsibility of their chaperones at Scotiabank Arena. Since it is a league game, concessions and souvenirs should be available.
- The VPPS skate time begins at 12:15 pm. The game begins at 4 pm. As long as you have a ticket, you may choose to participate in both the skate and the game, or simply attend the game.
- If you have any issues with tickets, waivers, or other questions, I will be at the skate and the game. You may reach me by email at arin.otis@yrdsb.ca. I look forward to seeing you representing VPPS #VPPSrules
