Some families have experienced difficulties using the phone system to report their child’s absence or late arrival to school on days with high volume. We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents that there are 3 ways to report your child’s absence or late arrival:
To use the app, first create a user name and password online at yorkrdsb.schoolconnects.com then download the app. The safe arrival app can be found by searching for “safe arrival” at your app store on your mobile device.
A reminder that student dismissal will occur at 3:20 pm today. For those who normally walk home, dismissal is as per usual.
For those of you who drove your child to VPPS today, here are the pick-up arrangements:
To help ensure student safety, if you have alternate pick-up arrangements (i.e., someone else is picking up your child today due to the bus cancellations) please e-mail the information to ventura.park.ps@yrdsb.ca if you have not already sent a note to your child’s teacher.
Drive Safely!
Good Morning VPPS parents! Due to continued freezing rain warnings issued by Environment Canada for today, all school buses and taxis have been cancelled. If you bring your child to school please make sure to pick up promptly at 3:20pm. Remember, if buses don’t run in the morning, they don’t run in the afternoon either.
It is supposed to be very icy on the roads and sidewalks so please be very careful driving OR walking. Give cars extra space and make sure you can be seen by drivers. If you are driving today, please be safe!
Students in Grades 5 to 12 at the York Region District School Board will be invited to participate in a survey between March 20 and April 28, 2017. The survey is voluntary, anonymous and confidential, and will take place at school.
The YRDSB survey fulfills the Ontario Ministry of Education’s requirement for schools to conduct student surveys and is aligned with the YRDSB’s Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and Well-Being. Survey questions will address topics related to Math, Modern Learning, Mental Health and Well-Being, Equity and School Safety.
This survey provides an opportunity to hear directly from students and the results will be used to identify student needs and plan strategies to support student achievement and well-being. If you have questions, please contact the school office.
If you do not wish your child(ren) to participate in the survey, please contact the school by March 10, 2017
