VPPS Students Rock at Eco Camp 2017

Last week, 6 of our amazing groundskeepers, Yael, Julia, Caitlin, Emily, Anika and Taylor attended YRDSB Eco Camp last week.

It was an amazing experience! Campers participated in many science and nature activities for three days, including a night hike.

Our team built a water filter which was the winning design in our group.  Have a look:

At the closing ceremony, there was a grand prize draw and Ventura Park PS won!

We had the honour of adding our school name to Carl the carp, the unofficial mascot of Eco Camp.  A special thank you to Mme Hoo for her supervision and leadership, and to our Great VPPS Student Leaders.

Area Cross Country Meet…Tomorrow

Tomorrow we are sending over 80 Junior and Intermediate Vikings’ Cross Country runners to represent VPPS at the Area Cross Country Meet.

Our runners will be leaving the school at 9:00 a.m. and will be walking to the event.  They will be returning before the end of the school day.  They will be running in the rain or the shine, so please send them properly dressed – an extra pair of shoes and dry socks, as well as rain gear!

Sub lunch is tomorrow and the runners will get their subs when they return to school around 2:30 p.m.

The event is being held at the Concord/Thornhill Regional Park – located East of Dufferin, South of Highway 407, behind the Canadian Tire.  Running Events commence at 10 a.m. and start with the youngest group.  A very special thank you to our coaches, Mme Forde, M. Babin, and M. Borsuk.
