School Closure – Monday, March 29th, 2021

Dear VPPS families,

We are anticipating a significant number of staff absences on March 29, 2021. Given requirements to maintain cohort sizes and minimize contacts, these absences will result in significant system operational issues, including the challenges associated with obtaining the required replacement coverage to ensure the safe supervision of students in our elementary schools.

Due to the safety concerns that this creates , the YRDSB has had to make the decision to close Ventura Park P.S. to in-person learning on Monday, March 29. This means that students should not come to school on this day. The school will reopen on March 30.

Unless otherwise indicated, other YRDSB schools remain open at this time.

Before and After Care Programs will also be cancelled for this day.

This closure is a result of securing staff coverage and maintaining contact and cohort numbers; it is not a public health direction based on COVID-19 exposure or case counts at your child’s school.

During this time, learning will continue virtually either asynchronously or synchronously. Your child’s teacher(s) will communicate with students regarding the learning arrangements for that day.  If your child requires access to a technology device please contact the school.Tips and resources are available on the Board website to support families in accessing online learning tools.

We recognize that this information may be concerning for families. Please know that this decision was not taken lightly, and was made to ensure continuation of student learning and to support student safety and well-being.

Thank you for your ongoing support and patience. For up to date information, please visit www.yrdsb.ca and the Board’s twitter feed @yrdsb

Sincerely,

CEC West Superintendents
